Change of plan

When I went to Cromer to do my filming the weather was not to great meaning that I could do much outside filming. So I had to slightly change my idea by going to a cafe in Cromer as well as the pier. As when I was filming outside the rain got too heavy to carry on.

Contingency Plan

In case my initial idea doesn't work out I have come up with a back up plan to make sure that I am able to come out with a final product.
For my contingency plan I will use locations in Norwich for easy access. The locations I would use would be Quay Side which is near the city centre, this will replace the location in the town in Cromer.
This idea will include more of a narrative. The story will be following a journey of the boy who is 'going to a brand new place' as the lyrics say. So my video will heavily follow the lyrics as they are very literal.
The place the boy is going to will ever be the pier in Cromer (like my initial idea) but there will be more of a build up to where he is going.

Time-lapse test footage

I have experimented with creating a time-lapse, which could be a possible idea I might use in my music video. To do this I had the camera filming for 12 minute in the same place. I then uploaded the footage to Permire Pro and sped up the footage which then left me with a time-lapse lasting for 8 seconds.

For the first video to export I changed the export settings on format to 'QuickTime' and the preset to 'PAL DV Widescreen'. But when I uploaded the video to YouTube the video quality wasn't too great.

So the second time I exported the video I changed the format to 'H.24' and the preset to 'HD 1080p 25'
Changing this setting made my video quality a lot better, so I will make sure to set it to this when exporting my final music video.

Green Screen

Today we went to the television studio and leaned how to use the green screen. So now if I wanted to use the green screen for my music video I would know how to do it.

Actor Styling

Untitled #4

This is the type of clothing my actor will be wearing. I have chosen clothes that are in mainstream shops such as topman as stereotypically people would listen to pop music shop at these kinds of shops therefore wearing these types of clothes.

Target Audience

Audience Profile

My target audience is aimed for both men and women who enjoy to listen to pop music. Having my product aimed at both men and women makes my audience slightly larger but means I will have to make sure my final product will suit both genders. In my collage I have include all the things that my target audience would like.
A typical person who is in my target audience would enjoy shopping in mainstream shops (like Topshop/man, H&M and River Island), like to listen to music on platforms such a YouTube to keep up to date with the latest songs and enjoy listening to radio stations such as Kiss and Capital. Due to the types of shops my target audience shops in I will make sure the actor in my video will also be wearing these types of clothes so the audience can identify with the actor.

Continuity Editing

When creating this video we experimented with continuity editing and the use of sound. We learnt how to cut on action to make sure the video still flowed well and didn't have any long pauses or any gaps. We used two different songs to make the footage have a completely different feel to it. We chose a horror song on the first edit and slowed the footage down to give a ‘spooky’ effect. On the second edit we used a humorous song and sped up the footage to give a funny feel to the song. We learnt how to speed up or slow down the video by right clicking on the part I wanted to change the speed of and then clicked ‘speed/Duration’ this then came up with a window allowing us to adjust the speed. We changed the speed of the footage to make the songs and help give the right effect.

Whilst filming we had to take into account the 180 degrees rule and had made sure we didn't cross it. Another skill we learnt was how to add an effect on the video. To do this I clicked on ‘Image Control’ and then selected ‘Black & White’. We chose to add a black and white effect on the first edit to add an even more ‘spooky’ feel to it as it was to a horror song.

Music Video Definition

A music video is a short visual clip which supports a pre-existing song. The clip will help the sales of the song by promoting it on different platforms.
A video can help portray a meaning of songs as well as just something fun to watch, depending on what the artist is wanting to show.

Transition Music Video

For my transition music video I learnt lots of new skills, one of the main ones being how to use premiere pro. In premiere pro learnt how to first learnt how to upload the footage we filmed. Once I had uploaded the footage I then found out how to cut the footage so I just got the bits I needed. When all the footage was in place I discovered how to use effects on the video, such as using fades or adding text. All of these new skills helped to create the video.
Another one of the main skills I learnt was how to film using the cameras. I learnt how to set the camera up by getting it on the right settings including how to get the camera in focus. These things helped make sure that the filming went well to achieve the overall video.
